Welcome to NUS EML (National University of Singapore Electronic Music Lab) 2025

Welcome to the NUS Electronic Music Lab!

A huge welcome to all our new students joining the National University of Singapore Electronic Music Lab (NUS EML)! We're excited to embark on this sonic adventure with you as you dive into the fascinating world of electronic music.

Here at NUS EML, you'll learn the A to Z of creating original electronic music. From sound design and synthesis to arrangement and mixing, we'll guide you through the processes of creating, performing, and recording your very own tracks. Get ready to unleash your creativity and explore the boundless possibilities of electronic sound!

To ensure you're all set for your first sessions, we have a few important things for you to prepare:

Before Your First Session:

  • Download Ableton Live 12 (Trial): Please head to the Ableton website and download the trial version of Ableton Live 12. Do not install it yet because it only lasts 30 days! We will guide you through the installation process during one of our initial sessions.

  • Windows Users: Download ASIO4All: If you are using a Windows laptop, please also download the ASIO4All audio driver. This will help optimize audio performance on your system. Mac users generally have suitable drivers built-in and do not need to download this. Again, please do not install it yet!

What to Bring to Each Session:

  • Your Laptop: This is your primary workstation for creating music. Please ensure it is fully charged.

  • Headphones or Earphones: Essential for focused listening and monitoring your audio.

We can't wait to meet you all and kick off this exciting journey into the realm of electronic music creation! Get ready to learn, experiment, and make some amazing sounds!

See you soon!
