As we gear up for an exciting semester at the NUS Electronic Music Lab, some of you might be keen to get a sneak peek into the world of music production. If you're curious and want to start exploring, Ableton's website offers some fantastic free resources that you can check out before our sessions begin.
Please remember, this is completely optional! We will be teaching everything from the ground up, so there's no need to know anything beforehand. Think of these as a fun way to get familiar with some of the concepts we'll be covering. Don't worry about understanding all the details; just play around and have fun with it!

Learning Music : This interactive website is one of the best introductions to the basics of music making. You'll learn about beats, melodies, harmony, basslines, and song structure right in your web browser. It’s a hands-on, engaging way to understand the building blocks of a track.Learning Synths : Ever wondered how electronic sounds are created? This resource demystifies synthesizers. You can tweak knobs and press keys to see how different parameters shape a sound. It’s a fantastic introduction to the world of synthesis, which is a core part of electronic music.
